Lucknow: A state-level hockey tournament for boys and girls was organized at the Mini Stadium, Vijayant Khand, Lucknow, from April 3 to 9, 2026, as part of the selection process for residential Kida Hostels for the 2026–27 session. The boys’ competition took place from April 3 to 6, followed by the girls’ matches from April 7 to 9.
The tournament was inaugurated on April 4 by chief guest Mr. Avinash Srivastava, National Umpire and Secretary of Hockey, Lucknow. He was welcomed with a bouquet by Mr. Ranjit Raj, Deputy Kida Officer, Lucknow. Other dignitaries present included Mrs. Neelam Siddiqui, Kida Officer, Kanpur Dehat, Mr. Mahendra Bora, hockey player, and other sports enthusiasts.
In today’s matches, the results were as follows:
- Gorakhpur Division vs. Bareilly + Aligarh Division – Match ended in a goalless draw.
- Prayagraj Division vs. Varanasi Division – Varanasi Division won 3-0.
- Lucknow Division Blue vs. Chitrakoot + Moradabad + Saharanpur Jhansi Division – Lucknow Blue won 4-0.
The tournament is being overseen by the Office of the Regional Sports Officer, K.D. Singh “Babu” Stadium, Lucknow, aiming to identify top talent for hostel-level sports programs.
